Copper thieves strike again. And 4 days later, againIn the Twin Cities, street lights illuminate our surroundings to allow us to see more clearly and to feel safer. I think that they also deter some forms of crime. For example, I think that cars parked on-street are less likely to broken into if they’re parked in well lit areas.  We also perceive our safety as being higher where there is good lighting.Where we live in St Paul, the street light wiring was just stolen for the third time this year. This is the first time that this has been an issue in the 23 years that we’ve lived in our house. The last time the wiring was stolen this month, it had been installed four days earlier. After it was stolen the second time, I didn’t bother contacting the city to replace it because I knew that it would just be stolen again.If the measures taken to prevent wire theft stay the same, I would like to encourage the city not to replace the wiring anymore. Authorities say drugs found in home of central Minnesota man accused of shooting 5 officers

Investigators found methamphetamine and traces of the stimulant while searching the home of a central Minnesota man who’s now charged with attempted murder in the shootings of five drug task force officers, a search warrant released Monday says.Investigators suspected Karl Thomas Holmberg, 64, and his wife of selling methamphetamine when they raided their house Oct. 12, according to a separate search warrant released last Wednesday.Five officers with the Sherburne County Drug Task Force suffered nonfatal injuries when the gunfire broke out, while a sixth officer who was present in the home was unhurt. Holmberg was injured in his foot. He was charged the next day with six counts of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer and six counts of first-degree assault of a peace officer. Police searching for suspect of Albany vehicle theft

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County Sheriff’s Office announced they are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect of a vehicle theft. Albany man convicted of attempted murder and assault

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A jury convicted Houston Ketter III, 40, of attempted murder in the first and second degree and two counts of first-degree assault. According to the indictment, Ketter intentionally set a woman on fire on November 13, 2022. The incident occurred in the area of Bradford and Robin Streets. He was also accused of attempting to cause serious physical injury to another victim on a separate date.

GALWAY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Last week NEWS10 talked about National School Bus Safety Week and some of the methods to help keep riders safe. NEWS10 learned of a bus crash in Galway where students encountered a scary situation of their own and has more on what is being done to help keep your kids safe. Cannabis roll out woes continue It was a frightening moment for some kids from the Galway Central School District. Earlier this month their bus driver experienced a medical emergency that ultimately led to the bus crashing into a tree. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – Halloween is just about a week away. While the weather looks like it’s going to change drastically by then, Monday has been another nice one. At Sullivan Farms Pumpkin Patch, they’ve seen a steady stream of customers despite it being a school day.“It’s gorgeous. Search for missing woman leads police to her family's backyard

ST. LOUIS – Police are searching a backyard for a south St. Louis woman who's been missing for nearly three years. The most recent search led investigators to dig in the victim's family's backyard.Bre'Ayn Lee Miller disappeared on July 26, 2020.Miller was last seen in south St. Louis after her boyfriend picked her up from a local casino. At the time, police said there was a verbal altercation, and Miller's boyfriend dropped her off in the vicinity of South Grand Boulevard and Delor Street. She was never heard from again. When will Missouri see the first freeze of the season? Few details have been released in the case. Detectives would not say why their most recent search led them to Miller's parents' backyard.The home is vacant, but neighbors are concerned that police are here digging. Former Colorado NSA employee pleads guilty to attempting to sell secrets to Russia

A former National Security Agency employee from Colorado pleaded guilty Monday in connection with his attempt to sell American secrets to the Russians.Jareh Sebastian Dalke, 31, a Colorado Springs resident, pleaded guilty to six counts of attempting to transmit national defense information to a foreign government. As part of the agreement, prosecutors said they will recommend 262 months in prison — though a federal judge will ultimately determine the sentence.He faced a potential death sentence after being charged last year with three violations of the Espionage Act.Dalke, as part of a plea deal, admitted to transmitting files last year to an undercover FBI agent with the intent to injure the United States and benefit Russia, according to the agreement.Between August and September 2022, Dalke used an encrypted email account to send excerpts of three classified documents to the FBI agent, believing them to be a Russian agent, authorities said. Human remains found along railroad tracks in Orange County

Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains along railroad tracks in La Habra Monday morning.Officers responded to the tracks near Idaho Street just before 10 a.m., according to La Habra Police.“Officers were able to locate the skeletal remains and have not made any identification at this time,” officials said in a statement.Police are working with the Orange County Coroner to identify the remains and determine the cause of the death."There are no outstanding suspects and there is no immediate danger to the public at this time,” police said.Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the La Habra Police Detective Bureau at (562) 383-4300.
