NEW YORK (AP) — Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Chaka Khan, “Soul Train” creator Don Cornelius and the late George Michael have all been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with Kate Bush also finally reaching the top of that hill. Special prosecutor named for criminal contempt case against Kim Gardner

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Circuit Court has named a special prosecutor to try indirect criminal contempt cases against Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner and a former subordinate.Family attorney Allison Lee, of the Sandberg Phoenix law firm, will handle proceedings on the circuit court's behalf. Lee is a former assistant circuit attorney in St. Louis and a former assistant state's attorney for Miami-Dade County, Florida.Gardner and Chris Desilets face indirect contempt of court hearings, after Desilets no-showed an April 10 court date for a shooting case. A Caribou Coffeehouse is opening in St. Louis

LOUIS -- A Caribou Coffeehouse is coming to St. Louis.   Mike Hamra, the president and CEO of Hamra Enterprises, signed a deal to open 24 Caribou Coffee shops in Missouri, including markets in St. Louis, Springfield, and Kansas City.   “Over the past 30 years, Caribou Coffee has refined and elevated the guest experience through an unwavering commitment to quality, as well as strategic investments in innovation,” said John Butcher, president and CEO of Caribou Coffee. “With a shared vision and commitment to Caribou’s core values, we’re thrilled to be further expanding our footprint nationwide alongside such experienced and passionate operators, and we look forward to supporting their success.”   Hamra Enterprises owns several franchise locations including Wendy's, Panera Bread, and Noodles & Company. Several Southern California residents are among five defendants charged in a federal racketeering scheme to steal millions of dollars from consumers’ bank accounts, officials announced Wednesday.A total of 14 people were charged in the seven-count indictment alleging conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.Members of the criminal enterprise allegedly created shell companies that claimed to offer products or services such as cloud storage, according to the indictment. After obtaining identifying and banking information of the victims, the defendants allegedly “executed unauthorized debits against victims’ bank accounts, which it falsely represented to banks were authorized by the victims,” officials said.Because some of the unauthorized debits ended in returned transactions, the enterprise’s shell companies also generated “micro debits” against other bank accounts, officials said.The micro debits then allegedl...

Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Collision on Nona WaySACRAMENTO, CA (May 3, 2023) – Thursday morning, a rider was killed in a motorcycle crash on Fruitridge Road.Dispatchers arrived to the scene around 7:00 a.m., near Nona Way on April 27th after receiving multiple calls in the area.Per reports, the driver of an eastbound vehicle made a left turn onto Fruitridge and struck a male motorcyclist.Upon impact, the rider who was not wearing a helmet was ejected onto the road and landed 20 feet away.
